The Great Debate

We have been impressed by the apparent similarities in appearance between our two boys, and thought we would put those similarities to a test. Below are pictures of Clark and Andrew, or Andrew and Clark, or Andrew, Clark, Clark, Andrew, Clark, Andrew, or ... you get the idea. Give it a go and see if you can pick which is which (come on, its not like you have anything more important to do than analyze our kids). Oh, and please don't peak at the previous blog in order to look for clues that would distinguish the two, because, well, your soul would be in peril, and we simply don't want that. Answers will be forthcoming (the suspense is going to be crazy, I know).

Welcome Baby Andoo!!

We are pleased to announce that Andrew Douglas Nielson (sounds presidential doesn't it?) was born at 12:02am on January 30, 2008, nearly three weeks before his due date.

He weighed in at a whopping 5 pounds, 13 ounces and measured 20 inches in length. He's not the biggest kid in the world, but we've eyed some of those other babies in the nursery, and we're pretty sure Andrew could take them down (what, what makes you think his dad is writing this?).

He has blond hair, and we have no idea what color eyes (he hasn't had them open much ... except for when the nurses put that goop in 'em, which caused him to blink madly to get the stuff out). Other than that, he looks like a carbon copy of Clark, though it is obviously too early to tell.

Mom is now recovering well. After delivery she had to go under the knife to remove some matter that wasn't properly removed the first time (too much information?). She was all about it, though, because that meant she got to have some of them good drugs (and of course, she wanted the problem fixed). The epidural was an utter failure and was only good for putting another hole in Cherylyn's body and running some additional wire through her (no seriously, is this too much information?... I'm going to have to have her proof this before it goes out). But she pushed through it (pun) anyhow. She is now relaxing on the bed with Andrew snuggled up next to her.

Dad ... well what can I say. He handled the labor like a champion. He needed a slight nap after the delivery--to recover from at least 3 rounds of coaching--during which Cherylyn had to call for a nurse to help her to the bathroom. But after his nap, he could have gone another round.

We are doing great and couldn't be more happy to have Andrew as the newest member of our family. Pictures below:

Mommy meets baby Andoo for the first time ... well, at least face to face. I'm pretty sure Andrew has
been well acquainted with mom's ribs for some time now.

Mom, undeterred by even the labor and delivery of her child
from keeping up communications with loved ones.

Dad is pretty sure Andrew is going to be a big Seahawks fan.

Baby Clark, I mean Baby Andoo. Cute boy.

Look at them burns!

Another glimpse. He is deep in painful thought on this one.

Happy New Year!

We had such a fun night doing fireworks and sparklers with Nana and Papa at the birdhouse! Clark LOVES fireworks. He would throw his arms in the air and shout "Wow!" every time. We had fun doing sparklers too, even though Clark did pick one up after it had gone out but was still very hot. It didn't deter him though and he still had a great time. The child knows how to party.
