The Big 3-0

IMG_3390

I am not a big birthday person. A lot of times I feel like there is a lot of build up and then the actual day doesn't always live up to the hype. Maybe it is because I was born on the 4th of July. I mean, let's be honest, the U.S.A.'s birthday is ALWAYS going to be cooler than mine. I love that I am born on that day. I love that everyone gets to have a party and that it's a patriotic one at that. This year, we were able to spend it with some new friends of ours, the Dettmans. They moved here just before summer hit and have 5 kids. They have boys the same age as Clark and Andrew, so it's pretty great. We went swimming and had great food and just had fun being with friends and fellow Americans. After we got home we did some sparklers. Happy Birthday U.S.A. and happy birthday to me!

Quarterly Clarkisms and Andoozies

4/02/11
Clark: Mom for my birthday I want a moving present … I want a present that has a dog in it.

(Cherylyn stroking Clark’s hair on the couch)
Clark: Mom, stop playing with my hair, its not a toy!

4/05/11
(Clark, after rubbing his hands through Tanner’s gelled hair)
Clark: Dad, why is your hair so grueling?

4/26/11
(Tanner, during dinner singing to the boys to the tune of “Creep” by TLC)
Tanner: “So you eat … yeaaah … just eating all your dinner, cuz that’s what your supposed to doooooo … so you eat, yeaaah, just eating all your dinner …”
Clark: That’s embarrass.

5/21/11
Clark: Dad, we need to get rid of the movie “Robots” because there is a girl in it that has a big pink butt.
Tanner: Really?
Clark: Yeah, and its not funny, its gross.
Andrew: It’s a stinky, poopy, butt.
Clark: Yeah, and we should get rid of it and get “Kung Fu Panda” instead

(After Tanner returned from Singapore where he had an appendectomy)
Andrew: Um, so dad, how ya been?!
